should i keep taking karate class?
ok i took a karate class the other day and like i was the worst guy their we was even mixed in with a 10 yr old kid and a girl and they both new what they were doing and their was thees ppl their watching and i was like freakn clueless i felt like a dip shit is that what everybodys first class is like or what
Everything you do for the rest of your life that you start new is going to be like that. Thats what makes martial arts great if you stay with it, you WILL get better and it will make you a better person by showing you how to persevere. You dont want ot go your whole life as a quiter do ya. Trust me You will get better, no matter what they say every one started out just like you. by the time you make it through your first belt you will feel like you’ve been doing this for years.

If you like it , keep it . If don’t quit .
Never force yourself to do anything .

My first dance class was like that, my first AFL training and game i was like that, my first soccer training was like that! But after a while i got the hang of it and they all became really fun! And yes, i think you should keep taking them…..it is good for you and you will meet new people…..

Maybe you should try something a little easier – like TKD

Stay with Karate. You can’t expect to feel comfortable in something new. For God’s sake, STAY AWAY FROM TKD!!! What a joke that is!
le a: quit promoting that garbage!

Sure. Actually I had it worst. I had a brother who made sure everyone knew what stupid things I did in class clear up until I was an orange belt. We’d wait in the car at a supermarket (simpler times I guess) and my brother would tell me how dumb I looked when I fell down doing a roundhouse kick. Or how much of a retard I was that I didn’t know my first kata. Or how much of a wimp I had to be because I needed to wear a brace on my ankle due to an unusual bone growth.
But in the end, I got the last laugh. We went to a different school, and there was someone there who picked on him. He eventually quit. I never really did.
Even at black belt I still look like crap from time to time. Recently, I went to a kempo school. Kempo was my first style, but I hadn’t practiced it for years. I decided to go to this school, because first off I was a good friend of the instructor and he needed the help. And secondly, I wanted to review and mix it with my current style which is similar, but not entirely the same. Well, my kempo sucked and I kept getting their kata mixed with my current style. I studied kempo ten years, I’ve been in karate for fifteen, and my kempo looks like crap. So it happens to us all.
But there’s nothing wrong with looking like crap. Only if you stay looking like crap. Pull your teacher aside after a class. Talk to him about some things you learned, and see if he can give you a few pointers one on one.

Yes, everyone’s first class is like that. Don’t worry about it.
Keep studying hard, and you will catch up, if not surpass those 10 year olds.
A good pointer mentioned above would be to talk to the instructor after class, share what you’ve learned and then ask some specfic questions.
Go a few more times – it should get better.
