another survey for single/ remarried parents- hypothetical child support situation- opinions?
your situation:
you have primary custody of the child. also have 2 other children by new boyfriend, who’s income is more than double your ex’s, he also purchased the house you live in leaving you with no rent/mortgage or household expenses to personally pay. new man also provides a brand new car (even though your ex gave you one when you split) and gold credit car for you. on top of this you work 2- 3 days a week and earn a good amount of your own money. you also get child support payments from your ex, and fortnightly payments from centrelink. your well off parents also chip in, paying for family holidays, school fees, medical insurance and buying the kids loads of clothes and toys.
childs father: sees his child as much as possible. he is struggling financially after being laid off and having to take a lower paying job. has a wife and baby to support. pays rent, all household expenses, car loan, receives no assistance and has to pay the maximum amount of child support to his ex. also buys clothes, toys, medicines and everything the child needs when he comes over.
I ask you, if you really didn’t need the money, would you give your ex a break and let him pay less child support until he gets back on his feet? why/ why not?
of course i’d love to hear from the dads (or non custodial parents) as well.
If I didn’t need it and he wasn’t a complete jerk face, I would give it back to him after it went through. That way he wouldn’t get into trouble for not paying.
