What is good to check before a long road trip?
I just took my vehicle in for a tuneup about two months ago. Next month I have a long (18-hour) road trip. What are some basic things I should check before setting off?
Please try to explain this in layman’s terms; I’m not the most car-inclined person.
1st change oil
take a look under the car for any leak
open the hood and then check trans oil
check the vent water
and then your all good
enjoy
zfl Z | Feb 08, 2010
first off you will want to check your oil when your engine is cold pop the hood and remove your oil dipstick, wipe it off insert it again then pull it out and check it (you wipe it off to get a good read) if it is low you will need to fill it up.
next find your transmission fluid dipstick. usually your engine will need to be under normal operating temperatures with the transmission in neutral. follow the instructions on your dipstick.
next check your cooling system. in your coolant overflow tank make sure it is up to the fill line. if it isnt fill it to the fill line with some antifreeze you can buy it from wal mart. us a 50/50 ratio half antifreeze half water. next check your belts and make sure that they are not glazed (they will appear shiny on one or more sides) this could be an indicator that they are rubbing and make sure that they are tight.
next if you have power steering and power brakes make sure that there is fluid in both resivuars (even if you have manual brakes there will still be fluid to check.)
after your engine is ok make sure that your tires are aired up and your spare is too in case of a blowout.
then just give it a good once over and make sure nothing looks out of the ordinary
wahrmund1 | Feb 08, 2010
In addition to the other ans. to check the auto-trans fluid the engine should be warmed up and running, and check the air in Your tires every couple weeks anyway, and look at them to see if the tread is not all worn out and bald, and take Your Guitar,,Jimmy Page! Rock On!

 Hart’s War (2002)
IMDB rating: 6.20
Plot: Shortly before the end of World War II, young, bright-eyed, First-Lieutenant Thomas Hart, a third-generation desk-warrior, is stationed in an office miles away from any fighting. He meets the war only by accident and is taken prisoner. During interrogation, Hart faces a test of honor, courage, and sacrifice he had not prepared for. Surviving the interrogation, the horrified Hart witnesses courage and honor in the acts of his fellow-prisoners, who save him from certain death by sacrificing their belongings and even their own lives. At the POW camp, Hart learns that courage, sacrifice, and honor are much harder to find, as men become embittered in their captivity. Instead, fraternization, opportunism, and racism abound, ever-encouraged by the murderous Nazis, lead by a grounded Luftwaffe colonel; and mostly tolerated by the senior-ranking American colonel, in spite of his being a 4th-generation military offcer. Col. McNamara, mostly indifferent to the goings-on of his Americans, defiantly draws the line at racism, saluting even the Russian “Untermenschen” in the neighboring compound. But this line becomes much less distinct as two downed African-American pilots join him in the American compound. Suddenly, American racism manifests itself and escalates until one of the pilots is murdered, and the other is accused of murdering one of the racist conspirators. A law-student before the war, Hart is appointed by McNamara to “defend” the court-marshalled pilot, where Hart learns that McNamara has taken great pains to guarantee a verdict of “guilty” against the lone African-American. For many prisoners, the war would be over. For Hart, it has barely begun, as he fights to find within himself the courage and honor that seems to be completely lost within the camp, and only to be had among the dead and the condemned.

Do you think Tna could compete with the wwe raw before hogan came in?
OK this is a what if question for everyone that thinks hogan was a bad idea lets just say jan 4th tna suppose declaring war on wwe but this was the date that spike decided to leave tn on mondays to compete with raw no hogan no bischoff just the vince russo and who ever else was wrighting the story lines were in charge.do yall honestly think tna could have competed with raw with the botched moves the stroylines that dont make since the 8min diva matches just having the x divison as the main focus the black miscismo and all the other crazy things they were doing.i mean the six sided ring is more of a match type then just the ring ok it made the x divison look better and high flying but it burnt the heavy weights of the company. And then none of there wrestlers really had a charecter besides the pope now with that said look at this breat hart was bought in stone cold is hosting March and the rock the great one has said he’s going to host raw and do more after that over the summer now do yall honestly think vince russo could wright a show to combat that be honest im not saying i agree with every thing hogans doing he’s making some bad decisons but i belive in my heart its all gone come to together to become a great story line
i would have to say you can pick up your rise and fall of tna dvd’s online january 4th 2011
I thought TNA was doing pretty good before it started to become the recycle bin for other wrestling orgs. With the ring change and Hogan and company it will just turn into another boring WWE clone, with soap opera story lines and 10 minute worthless fillers. It is just too easy to guess how each match will end. At least there are some other shows to watch like the Lucha, DragonGate, Chikara, Japan’s shows and the independents. Unless something drastic is done TNA is in big trouble. >_<

I need help figuring out the moral of this story?
Well I just read "The Brave Tin Soldier" by Hans Christian Andersen and I need help.
Okay so basically there’s this tin soldier (he only has one leg and is a birthday present for a little boy) and has fallen in love with a paper ballerina (who lifts her leg up way above her head and to the tin soldier it seems like she only has one leg too. She also has small, tinsel rose with her.) The tin soldier goes through so much terrible events such as being eaten by a fish. When in these terrible events he stays still and shows no fear as he thinks about the beautiful paper ballerina. The fish gets caught by a fishermen and is, coincidentally, brought back to the same home. The cook slices the fish’s stomach open and finds the tin soldier inside. He washes the soldier and brings it back to the same table where he was once on when he first spotted the beautiful ballerina. But the little boy grabs the tin soldier and tosses him into the burning hot stove. The tin soldier stays still and shows no fear. But at the moment a gust of wind enters the room through a window and blows the paper ballerina into the stove as well, but immediately turns into flames and vanishes. The next morning, when the cook took the ashes out of the stove, she found him in the shape of a little tin heart. But of the little dancer nothing remained but the tinsel rose, which was burnt black as a cinder.
** I’m trying to figure out what the last two sentences mean. "The next morning, when the cook took the ashes out of the stove, she found him in the shape of a little tin heart. But of the little dancer nothing remained but the tinsel rose, which was burnt black as a cinder."
If you need more information on the story I’ll gladly give it to you. It’s just killing me to know what the sentences mean.
I love this story, it is one of my favorites.
In The Steadfast Tin Soldier, blind fate, not intention, determines all events. The tin soldier’s passive acceptance of whatever happens to him, contributes to his doom. Were he to speak and act, the soldier might gain both life and love. Restrained, however, by inhibition he finds only tragedy and death. The tale is often read autobiographically, with the soldier viewed as symbolizing Andersen’s feelings of inadequacy with women, his passive acceptance of bourgeois class attitudes, or his sense of alienation as an artist and an outsider, from full participation in everyday life."
Central to this story is the soldier’s unwavering sense of duty in the face of his hardships, implying that the tragedy of physical death is outweighed by the permanent rewards which follow.Andersen concludes the story on a symbolic note: throughout the sufferings and difficulty of life, only love is eternal. Even though the soldier has been consumed his heart remains.
ellogovna | Jan 06, 2010
The heart was to show how in love and kind of infallible (though he was melted) the soldier was. The ballerina’s tinsel flower was her token of love to her brave tin soldier.

 Reservation Road (2007)
IMDB rating: 7.30
Plot: On a warm September evening, college professor Ethan Learner, his wife Grace, and their daughter Emma are attending a recital. Their 10-year-old son Josh is playing cello — beautifully, as usual. His younger sister looks up to him, and his parents are proud of their son. On the way home, they all stop at a gas station on Reservation Road. There, in one terrible instant, he is taken from them forever. On a warm September evening, law associate Dwight Arno and his 11-year-old son Lucas are attending a baseball game. Their favorite team, the Red Sox, is playing – and, hopefully, heading for the World Series. Dwight cherishes his time spent with Lucas. Driving his son back to his ex-wife, Lucas’ mother Ruth Wheldon, Dwight heads towards his fateful encounter at Reservation Road. The accident happens so fast that Lucas is all but unaware, while Ethan — the only witness — is all too aware, as a panicked Dwight speeds away. The police are called, and an investigation begins. Haunted by the tragedy, both fathers react in unexpected ways, as do Grace and Emma. As a reckoning looms, the two fathers are forced to make the hardest choices of their lives.

Emo alert! If you truly wanted to die, you would’ve done so already. It’s not THAT difficult. I’m not going to answer your question because you know the answer. The only reason you posted this was so you could throw yourself a pity party.
Quit feeling sorry for yourself. It could be a lot worse. Go see a therapist or something and try not to complain so much and fixate on the negative things.

Idiot killing your self is the easy way out of life face like everyone else on the earth, Also think about the stress that’s going to happen to your family.
Michael | Feb 09, 2010
Are you really sure you want to die? After all, who knows for sure what’s on the other side? What if it’s not an end to pain, but in fact, more pain? What if death is simply being stuck underground, staring at the lid of your coffin forever and ever? Or what if the Christians are right, and suicides end up in a hell of their worst imaginings?
As long as you’re alive, you always have the ability to change your circumstances. Each new day is a blank slate, a chance to make things better. As long as you can move your feet, you can run. As long as you can move your arms, you can create. As long as you can speak, you can make your voice heard. With death, you are no longer in control of anything. You leave your fate in the hands of the unknown, which could be scarier and darker than any place you now find yourself in.
You have people who care about you. That you know. And that’s already an advantage you have over the thousands that also find themselves in pits of despair.
Don’t give up hope for your life. It may seem shitty now, but the world is big and the days are long. The whole world and all of time is not solely filled with sadness. Seek out the happy places here, rather than surrendering to a dark Beyond you can hardly contemplate.
Adam | Feb 09, 2010
Why do you need random people on the internet to tell you that your family obviously loves you?
This sounds like someone who wants attention or a call for help rather than someone that really wants to die. Those that want to do suicide, generally do so without warning or a chance for reprieve. Talk to a counselor, teacher, your parents, something… If there are things in your life that are that bad, there are ways to fix them and people that can help you.

Plot: “Wanted” tells the tale of one apathetic nobody’s transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. In 2008, we’re introduced to a hero for a new generation: 25 year old employed slacker, WESLEY GIBSON. Wes is the most disaffected, cube-dwelling, clock-punching drone this planet has ever known. His boss chews him out hourly, his girlfriend ignores him routinely, and his life plods on in interminable boredom and routine. Everyone knows this disengaged slacker will amount to absolutely nothing, and so does he, until he meets the sexy, foxy woman named FOX, and then everything changes. Wes’ estranged father is murdered, and the deadly Fox recruits him into The Fraternity, a secret society that trains him to avenge his father’s death, by unlocking his dormant powers. And oh boy does he have powers, as she teaches Wes how to develop his lightning-quick reflexes and phenomenal agility, he discovers that The Fraternity lives by an ancient, unbreakable code: to carry out the death orders given by emotionless Fate itself. Wes, with his wickedly brilliant and sexy tutor, plus the paternal guidance of The Fraternity’s enigmatic leader, SLOAN, young Wes grows to enjoy all the strength and success he ever wanted. But, slowly, he realizes there’s more to his dangerous associates than meets the casual eye. And, as he wavers between new found heroism and vengeance, Wes will come to learn what no one can ever teach him; that he alone controls his destiny.
