Sword in the Stone, The
Sword in the Stone, The (1963)

IMDB rating: 6.80

Plot: This animated feature is set in medieval times. After the English king dies leaving no heir, in the churchyard of a cathedral in London, a sword appears imbedded in a stone inscribed, “Who so pulleth out this sword of this stone and anvil is rightwise king born of England.” Although many try, no one can budge the sword from the stone. Deep in the dark woods, kind, but absent-minded Merlin the Magician begins to teach 11-year-old Arthur, who is called Wart, and lives in the castle of Sir Ector where he’s an apprentice squire to burly, oafish Sir Kay — when he’s not washing stacks of pots and pans in the scullery. By being changed by Merlin into various animals, Wart learns the basic truths of life, but he also runs into the evil Madam Mim, who tries to destroy him. Merlin and Mim have a Wizards’ Duel, during which each changes into various creatures, with Merlin using his wits to win. On New Year’s Day, a great tournament is held in London to pick a new king. Wart, attending as Kay’s squire, forgets Kay’s sword, and runs back to the inn to get it, but the inn is locked. Wart, seeing the sword in the stone, innocently, and easily, pulls it out. When the knights marvel at the wondrous sword and question where he got it, Wart has to prove himself all over again, and again he pulls the sword from the stone. Wart is proclaimed king by the marveling warriors. Wart as King Arthur is apprehensive of his ability to govern, but Merlin returns to reassure him.

wow, did you type all that out? its really hard to see what you can make. there at least 10 different themes for this deck, and none of them are complete. i think the most cards you have are spell counter related, so make a spell counter deck, and buy the spellcasters command structure deck once aswell, you can’t make a proper deck with all these cards, it will be too random.

While attempting to deal with these strange souls, Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia Kuchiki meet Senna, a mysterious shinigami who wipes out most of them. BLEACH Fans Only (Bleach:Memories of Nobody)?
I just saw the movie, Bleach: Memories of Nobody again, and I cant get it through my head.

At the end, Im guessing Ichigo forgot who Senna was, then when her hairband flew into his hand he remembered, because he opened his eyes more. But the part Im confused about was when Senna ran by him, once he passed him, he opened his eyes. Does that mean that she wasnt really there but just a memory? And was the grave her real name, or it that something no one will even know?

Any ideas on these things? Thanks for all the help. And the movie keeps getting better everytime I see it! :D

The girl that ran by him on the bridge, may have been Senna, and I don’t doubt it. Too many similarities between the two girls.

And about the grave, I believe Ichigo wasn’t 100% honest with her.

Shunsui Kyouraku is 100% MINE!! | Nov 30, 2009

I think it’s something that we’ll never know. Instead of having a sad ending (I was crying lol), that scene made it a lot happier and just made the movie better.
Ayaii | Nov 29, 2009

that just just part of the suspence i guess.lol
corey s | Nov 29, 2009

WHOA! I know what you mean. I saw the movie 13 months ago, immediately bought it and have watched it over many times. It’s my favorite movie, for many reasons.

I think that the name on the grave wasn’t hers, and Ichigo said it was so that she could leave happily.

Also, the ending theme that plays over the credits, there’s the back round of Karakura Town, and a day or so passing. During that time, Ichigo did forget about Senna, and as he was walking and caught her ribbon, I’m pretty sure he had some sort of remembrance of the events involving Senna, and Senna herself.

The girl that ran by him was not Senna, but maybe the person she was based off of. Or yeah, she might have been Senna.

It’s a real cool movie, that leaves you to think of what happened.

EDIT: I see you’ve kinda re-asked this question, and this answer goes to that one as well.
Strawberry Milk | Nov 29, 2009

yeah i just watched it last night. Maybe she was Reborn but without all those memorys.
Debbie | Nov 29, 2009

I heard that there was no name on the grave, but of course Ichigo said it was Senna’s ;D

As for the ending, I’m not really sure. I guess it’s just another question to have in mind . . .

can you fix my poem.?
Once upon a doom filled night, along that God forsaken road,
Aimlessly I walked. My shadow flickering in the streetlight’s eerie glow.
Beneath my feet the paving stones lay split asunder,
Echoing to a passing lorry’s roar and thunder,
That swiftly disappeared into the threatening dark.
Then, with rising horror clutching at my fearful heart,
I reached my journey’s end.
That hellish haunted house. What dread secrets did it hold?
And ere the night was through!

Out of nowhere a foul owl appeared.
Looking directly at me with its ghostly stare,
I could not judge his berth, for evil is called down upon this earth
Flying by a nearby birch it found a perch.
As I began approaching he gave a sickly crackling sound saying "don’t come near!

With the help of friend Dick Suskind, Irving does research, lucks into a manuscript written by a long-time Hughes associate, and plays on corporate greed. He’s quick-thinking and outrageously bold. Plus, he banks on Hughes’s reluctance to enter the public eye. At the same time, he’s trying to rebuild his marriage and deflect the allure of his one-time mistress, Nina Van Pallandt. Can he write a good book, take the money, and pull off the hoax?

OK.If the bible is really a fictitious book then what Freaking purpose was there to write it.?
There is none.A huge detailed book larger than any book more detailed than any other.Lord of the rings is like papaerback compared to the bible.WHat need would someone have to play a hoax.WAKE UP AND Repent now.!
ALl your answers arew fail. You guys are so stupid it’s not funny. You will regret this before the end.You have been given so many oppurtunites to turn from blashemy and accept Jesus into your life.Your choice. But when and if you should not make it to heaven.DO NOT BLAME IT ON GOD.because you idiots are too stupid to grasp anything illogical.
To answer your question MANWELL:
These other FALSE religions are the device of the devil to distract you from learning the word of JESUS our only lord and saviour there is no other.Soon and very SOON MARK MY WORDS he will come with thousands of angels from the new Jerusalem and you will regret every word that cam out of your mouth.REPENT NOW>
Ok i messed up there. But i meant what purpose to hoax people. It is genuine like it or nopt god exists Jesus died for our sins.END OF STORY repent now or pay the ultimate consequence.

atleast LOTR is a decent story… the bible is just long winded and fucking annoyingly boring

2. To control others.
3. To give one tribe a claim to divine approval so they could kill other tribes and take their stuff.

But this same reasoning doesn’t apply to the holy texts of other religions, right? The Quran, Gita, and, Tao Te Ching really are fictional. Is that correct?

iDentity ???????? ? ? ???? | Feb 05, 2010

Lord of the Rings is WAY more detailed and it doesn’t even contradict itself.
I guess that makes it true.

War And Peace is a HUGE book and it doesn’t contradict itself.
That makes it a true story, too, right?

The world’s longest novel has over 12-and-a-half million words ( there are just over 783,000 in the bible).
That makes it true, right?
Arthur Always | Feb 05, 2010

As a true and utter atheist, may i suggest that the purpose is a way to guide us in how to live our lives, treat others (and ourselves), and live in a polite (look up the latin for polite- it means of the city) society.

kinda like a parable, but a really old one!
crackoon | Feb 05, 2010

That is like saying, "if it is in print, it must be true." Surely you are not this naive!!!!!
hypno_toad1 | Feb 05, 2010

Have you ever seen how much money changes hands when the collection plate gets passed round?

‘Nuff said.
The Reverend Soleil | Feb 05, 2010

It’s actually not "larger than any book". For instance, the Codex Gigas, or Devil’s Bible, is much larger.
serf | Feb 05, 2010

Lol seriously???

The purpose to write it would be to make people believe that it is truth and try to get them to lead a moral life (albeit by using fear).
M ? | Feb 05, 2010

That has to be the worst argument I’ve ever heard from that side…

To hell with it- drivel is drivel:

There are still monkeys because BabbyJebus needed something to teach all the children of the world how to eat bananas… and Kirk Cameron wasn’t born yet.
4NICK8 | Feb 05, 2010

Actually the Bible is a collection of writings. They’re not even consistent with each other.

Why don’t you learn about your religion before you try to defend it?
verite | Feb 05, 2010

The same reason that the Egyptians wrote the book of the dead, or that the Muslims wrote the Quran or that countries write Constitutions, or even many of the mythological stories that have been written.

Anyways, science text books are longer, way more detailed (nothing really vague in a science book, compared to the bible which a lot of it is just repeating the same story) and contradict the Bible, so by your logic, Science is real and the Bible being shorter and less detailed is a hoax.
Martin (atheist) | Feb 05, 2010

Control of the population. Look who invented and supports them. Buddha was a prince. Hinduism was heavily promoted by a known atheist king. Christianity, the bible was commissioned and enforced as the Roman state religion by the emperor Constantine. The head of the Church of England is the King or Queen of England.

Religion and the ruling elite make perfect bed fellows, they don’t want independent Intelligent people, they want compliant idiots. They don’t care what religion it is as long as they are kept dumb and kept coming.

Practicing Shaman… quantum physics rocks
Shaman Val | Feb 05, 2010

Control… for one thing.
Just like the legal laws are written to control people (and even to ‘make’ them control their animals).

+++++++++++++
Edit:
I’m just wondering, if we put all the legal laws in it’s finest details (read, legal crap) into one big book — how big would that book be? Surely must be bigger than the bible.
+++++++++++++

The writers of the bible were (or are) not only attempting to control people’s behaviour, but their minds (their thinking process) as well, by means of inducing fear by using threats, such as "eternally burning in hell".

Of course, that sort of intimidation only works if you believe in it. Maybe that’s the top reason why they hate non-believers — they cannot control them by intimidation.
LotsaSpots | Feb 05, 2010

There are older religious books. Are you saying that I should become Buddhist or Hindu?

Are you aware that after your question "what freaking purpose was there to write it".
You answered-"there is none"?

Your emotions are controlling you. That is the purpose of religion.
phil8656 | Feb 05, 2010

so its big so it cant be wrong. by that logic the manual to a Stealth bomber must be more truth full. maybe this is what the people who wrote it want you to think. the idea of god is logical to many but at some point every spiritual book is made up. also if you think you proved the bible is right, then what about all the other religious books that can be described as similar.

Plot: A wave of kidnappings has swept through Mexico, feeding a growing sense of panic among its wealthier citizens, especially parents. In one six-day period, there were twenty-four abductions, leading many to hire bodyguards for their children. Into this world enters John Creasy, a burned-out ex-CIA operative/assassin, who has given up on life. Creasy’s friend Rayburn brings him to Mexico City to be a bodyguard to nine-year-old Pita Ramos, daughter of industrialist Samuel Ramos and his wife Lisa. Creasy is not interested in being a bodyguard, especially to a youngster, but for lack of something better to do, he accepts the assignment. Creasy barely tolerates the precocious child and her pestering questions about him and his life. But slowly, she chips away at his seemingly impenetrable exterior, his defenses drop, and he opens up to her. Creasy’s new-found purpose in life is shattered when Pita is kidnapped. Despite being seriously wounded during the kidnapping, he vows to kill anyone involved in or profiting from the kidnapping. And no one can stop him.

Your list is pretty great. However, the films I would recommend would be Barton Frink, Taxi Driver and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Barton Frink happens to be one of my favorite Coen Brother’s film, and it has one of the greatest climaxes ever. If you exclude The Flintstones, this is the movie where John Goodman really shines. Taxi Driver, now there’s a film that makes today’s movies look like crap. It’s innovate, for one. Entertaining, for two. It’s an amazing film. Now, I’m not sure if it’s the one you’re talking about, but if it is 2001: A Space Odyssey, you’re in for a treat. If not for this one, modern space films simply wouldn’t exist. It’s maybe the most definite Kubrick film ever made. Speaking of which, here are some of my suggestions;

Eyes Wide Shut by Stanley Kubrick. It’s the movie that dares to ask the difficult questions about love, and it hard not to respect that.

The Dark Knight by Chris Nolan. What can I possible say about a movie that’s already been analyzed to death?

The Orphanage by Juan Antonio Bayona. Now, I loved Pan’s Labyrinth, and this movie just captures that same feel.

Frankenstein by James Whale. There is just so much to this movie, powerful scenes, philosophy, and criticism towards the time. It’s safe to say Boris Karloff didn’t make this movie by himself.

I’m Not There by Todd Haynes. This is Bob Dylan, and it’s not Bob Dylan. It’s truly the most creative biography I’ve ever seen. Anything else would be an understatement.

The Night of the Living Dead by George Romero. By now, this movie is infamous for creating the semi-modern zombie genre. But it’s also a movie that deals with racism and the human psyche. Not to mention it’s got one of the greatest ending to a movie ever.

Sin City by Robert Rodriques, Frank Miller and Quentin Tarantino. Did you catch the names? If you’re looking for an action film that doesn’t mess around, this is the one. Also, it’s one of the best comic adaptions ever. Only second to Tim Burton’s Batman, in my opinion.

Harry Potter can get very boring same with x-men but that’s just me

The Notebook is a good love story and will make you cry maybe but worth the watch.
The break – up is a light hearted comedy. Good Fun.

Do you think it is wrong to name your child after?
something you really enjoy? My husband and I are huge gamers/nerds/unconventional and have been since the first day we met over 7 years ago. While I enjoy popular/classical names like Emma, Ethan, Sydney, etc how wrong would it be to pair them with an unusual names that has special meaning to my husband and I? Like a video game, sci-fi movie, or anime series…

For example…

Ethan Kai (Kai from DBZ)
Brendon Vegeta (Vegeta from DBZ)
Emma Korin (Korin from DBZ)
Micheal Thaddius (Thaddius from WoW)
Ethan Kirk (Kirk from Star Trek)
Sydney Leeloo (Leeloo from The Fifth Element)

Etc…

Would it be better to pair them with a more "normal" middle name for ex…

Brendon Matthew Vegeta H…..
Emma Mae Korin H…
Micheal James Thaddius H….

ETC Just want honest opinions :) Will pick best answer!

I think it’s okay, but as long as it’s an actual name, or at least sounds like one.

Like the first one sounds kinda okay, but I wouldn’t recommend Vegeta.

If I have kids, they’ll probably be named after an anime character too…

I think you can get away with Kirk or even Thaddeus, but I don’t think you are doing your son any favors by giving him a middle name based of an anime character. Leeloo isn’t a good one either, so I would go with Kirk just because saying Thaddius aloud is a little weird. Plus what if your son asks where you got his name from?

if you really like the name and if it sounds good together. some names can sound a little strange though (like naming a kid ganondorf or something…he’d probably get made fun of) but a normal name with a video game character name would sound pretty cool. some video game/anime names do sound really cool though.

i was thinking about naming my kid lawliet (L from deathnote anime) when i grow up haha.

its okay if you do it just make sure you can give it a normal or cute nickname so that if he or she doesn’t like the name they can just go with the nickname. like
Chieko | Dec 30, 2009

I think it’d be just fine, sure Vegeta probably isn’t the best middle name but the others you’ve listed are pretty cool, Kai is a name i’ve always liked myself and it also has quite a few different meanings depending on the language, some pretty cool ones at that too. If it’s something that you really like then you should go ahead and do so ( not Vegeta! )

Pairing it with a more common middle name seems a bit outta place when put with the others.
