where are all these light-colored sicilians i hear about every time i ask a question about sicily? every time i ever make reference to sicilians or southern italians in general as dark, someone always says there are many with light skin, blue eyes due to the norman invasion of the island, and they mention that there are as many light sicilians as there are ones who look arab or greek, or like other southern italians.
then why is it that when i see pictures from there or meet people from there or even see my own family, most of them look either like lebanese peple or greeks and i’ve yet to see one person who is 100% sicilian and light, minus my grandmother.?
if anyone has pictures to prove the point, send them. stank – agreed. the average sicilian looks much closer to a greek or a lebanese person than they look french, british, or german in my opinion.
@STANK get over yourself!!…Sicily and the South of Italy ARE NOT destinations where people decide to emigrate as mostly people there have to LEAVE the place to find a job elsewhere because both Sicily and the south are quite poors!! Plus most of immigrants all over Italy are from north africa, south america so "No blonds are going there.. hun"! Rich light north european people don’t need to emigrate to find job in the south because there’s NONE and hardly for the locals!…They are all ORIGINAL light skinned people, more than everywhere else and maybe with more "dark" due to immigrations from Africa, Ecuador, Cuba….probably lots of them that YOU think are sicilians are from Morocco or Nigeria so is the OPPOSITE of what you think…sorry

what do you guys think of this amendment to the healthcare bill regarding southern obesity? We propose a stipend of money to hire social workers in the south to counsel the southerners on exercise and a proper diet. the social worker will monitor their progress in "the program".
I believe the principal problem is that the southerners are trying to much to be like "city folk". they see the Ally McBeals and Sarah Jessica Parkers in the shiny city and think, "oh me too!" next think you know, instead of digging holes and doing farmystuff like they should be doing, they try to be all "glamourous". popularity in fast food restaurants explode (they think of it as ‘eating out’), they get roped into pyramid scams thinking they are business opportunities and they get to feel like they are a "business person" and the such. you see where this is going.
so the social worker will MAKE them do their farm stuff. they will then eat the vegetables instead of burger king and they will get the exercise from farm stuff. and the social worker has the job. the social worker role will be filled by our nations college graduates.
seems like a no-lose plan to me. what do you guys think?
