Buying a Christmas Gift for my Father In Law and need help with ideas for a hockey fan?

Okay so I’m starting my Christmas shopping early because last year my gifts sucked. This year I’m hoping to knock it out of the park!

I got everyone covered except for my Father in law. I was hoping the forum could help me select a gift that he would like.

He is a major Canucks Hockey fan. He follows the games regularly but up in Squamish, BC he has hard time picking up an AM station that broadcasts the games live when they are not on PPV cable.

My first idea was to get a radio that can pick up a single from Vancouver to Squamish but not sure if there is any AM radio that can do it. If anyone know of anything that would work, please suggest it here.

My other idea is a wireless headphone set he could plug into a PC and listen to the games being streamed over the web. Right now he hates being stuck in front of a PC to hear a game. Any one think that would be a good gift idea?

Please keep in mind he is older and doesn’t like technology too much. So simple to use is important.

Any suggestions if you like either of the gift ideas I came up with or if you have a better idea, please post away.

I really want to redeem myself from last year.

Thanks in advance.
Just to clarify…he hates computers. I had to set up a little link on the desktop so he could listen to the game over the web, but he hates sitting at the computer desk. His favorite way to enjoy the game is sitting back on his recliner in the living room. The computer is in another part of the house that he doesn’t like.

LOL @ the swedish twins ..I don’t think my mother in law would appreciate that
Hey the sat radio idea is a good idea! How expensive are they and how much are the subscriptions? (He is a cheap bastard, about everything except his PPV Games). You have any suggestions on a good sat radio to buy? or point me in the right direction to research?

get him Swedish Twins

he should be able to watch the game on the computer. you could also get him a framed photo of the stadium.

I think that your best bet would be satillite radio you can get a pretty nice setup for around $100 but all depends on what kind you get my buddy has sirus which is way nice and it only cost like 10 bucks a month and you can listen to all the hockey that you want you can even go to a channel that just does scores we listen to alot of games on his and it is way good I would suggest that

I’d second the Satellite Radio- for XM Canada, the only caveat is that you get the home team feed (I have one and swear by it) so for the away games he’ll have to deal with the home team’s announcers (by second round of the playoffs they will have both feeds).

XM Canada has a ton of deals going on (they merged with Sirius); if you get a second unit (for yourself) it becomes quite inexpensive (their music channels are pretty good, plus they have a ton of other stuff). With a minimal amount of smarts, you can hook the unit up to speakers and he can listen at home (the one I have is portable- I have a docking station at home and then a plug-in for the car).

You can also sign up for XM online- you can listen to all their channels online.

Happy shopping- hope it goes well!

In your inbox, there’s a wave called "Invite others to Google Wave". If not, you can also search for it.

Here’s an image to get you situated.

After you open that wave, just type in the e-mail of the person you want to add and voila!

If you have any left to spare, I would love to have one, otherwise I’ll have to wait like FOREVER! My e-mail is robberval@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance.
