If the Tasmanian devil and batman were interspersed in a fight who would win?
Tasmanian devil can spin and stuff but batman could just blow him up right?
I don’t want a one word answer, I need an explanation also!

I believe Batman would win, if only because the Tasmanian Devil is such an incredibly stupid animal. Even Bugs Bunny could beat him. Batman would probably use his Batarang to hook onto the Devil, so when he spun around, the Devil would get tied up. Either that or Batman would dress up like a female Tasmanian Devil and pretend to kiss him, then clamp a bear trap onto his mouth.

Zeespot | Jan 08, 2009

Batman would throw a razor bat with a grappling hook attached, the Tasmanian Devil would spin around to try and deflect it and end up getting tied up in it. Batman would then punch him in the head and knock him out. The Tasmanian devil would then be euthanized.
Mr. Malevolence | Jan 08, 2009

It was Sugar Ray Leonard who blessed Manny Pacman to be doing the stunt of the Tasmanian Devil, and the world saw Golden Boy in the figure of Batman. Of course history speaks of itself.
KIT | Jan 08, 2009

i think it will be batman as well because he is smart and can think of a strategy of some kind and the Tasmania devil is just ana animal who knows only to spin!
alexs4oo | Jan 08, 2009

Well, if Batman can take down Killer Crock & Charaxis, the Tasmanian Devil should be a similar experience. It would end up being a battle of brain vs brawn.

Can I make Concha Dough the night before use?
If you don’t know what a concha is, it’s a sweet bread. It is made with yeast, eggs, milk, flour and sugar. It takes about an hour and a half to two hours to rise. I usually wake up an hour before everyone else and would like these concha’s ready to go in the mornings before everyone leaves for work/school. I was wondering if it was appropriate to prepare the dough 8-10 hours prior to baking.

Plot: Film adaptation of street tough Jim Carroll’s epistle about his kaleidoscopic free fall into the harrowing world of drug addiction. As a member of a seemingly unbeatable high school basketball squad, Jim’s life centers around the basketball court and the court becomes a metaphor for the world in his mind. A best friend who is dying of leukemia, a coach (“Swifty”) who takes unacceptable liberties with the boys on his team, teenage sexual angst, and an unhealthy appetite for heroin — all of these begin to encroach on young Jim’s dream of becoming a basketball star. Soon, the dark streets of New York become a refuge from his mother’s mounting concern for her son. He can’t go home and his only escape from the reality of the streets is heroin for which he steals, robs and prostitutes himself. Only with the help of Reggie, an older neighborhood friend with whom Jim “picked up a game” now and then, is he able to begin the long journey back to sanity.

Hi guys, in around 2 hours I shall be leaving my country’s airport to land in GATWICK airport. landing around 23:45, from there I have planned to take gatwick express to victoria station & from there by bus. Any reasonable shuttle service or reasonable charging transport pleasee guys? We’re a group of 4 adults & a child our hotel is in paddington. so from gatwick to paddington any cheap transport vans?

Thanks will be checking in shortly every now & then until these last two hours.

Plot: Piggy Banks tells the story of two charming and brilliant brothers who finance their lifestyle by robbing and murdering pretty much anyone foolish enough to get in the car with them. They learn the business from their sociopath father (Tom Sizemore) who doesn’t bother to hide his crimes, or the brutal philosophy which drives it. He tells his sons people are just piggy banks. You need money? Just break one open. Michael is sloppy and reckless he goes about his work with a demented glee, John perhaps even more horrifyingly, understands the misery he inflicts he simply doesn’t care. It’s just a job. How can I tell her???? :( ?
Okay, my sister is pregnant, has no job, and is living with me(im 16) and my mom. I am very excited to be an aunt. I dont really know how my sister will be with the baby but by the way she is talking, she sounds irresponsible. She will be 21 in march (baby is due Febrauary 20), so I can see her going out and drinking. She is already talking about going out and getting drunk (exact words) two weeks after giving birth. In my eyes that is irresponsible. Also since she has no money or a job, I think she should be saving money for an emergency like the baby needing diapers or wipes or something of the sort. So, at her baby shower she got money for the baby and put it in the piggy bank for the baby. Then not an hour after she took money out to spend it on herself. I understand the baby isnt here yet, but she should be saving money. Plus it is the BABY"S money. Not hers. Can someone please tell me how I can tell her the way I feel. I tried to before and she insists I am jealous and mad. Honestly, I am not.Can someone please help?!?!?!?

Why dont you talk to your mom about it? you guys can then talk to her about it

nikki | Feb 02, 2010

you are going to have to leave it alone and pray to god that everythingg will be better.
you are not your sister’s keeper.
if she is not going to be responsible to take care pf her baby your are just going to have to hope she grows up because bieng a thorn in her sie about the whole thing is not going to do nothing but make her keep doing what she does she feel that she is a grown lady and that nothing ayone says matter.
now you are going to have to be the bigger person and not give your sister any money unless that baby is sick and she needs some omney for it.
because if there is nothing wrong with that baby there is no reason for her to take our money
and if she says that she needs diapers or baby wipes and you don’t belive her go to the store and but them your self.
or just ask your mother to talk to her bout taking are of the baby the same way yur mother takes care of you
gary | Feb 02, 2010

No, you really don’t know how your sister will be with her baby. What you do know is that, right now, she is not out drinking and doing drugs and harming her baby. That’s a good thing. At 21, she’s still young… just old enough to get to the bar the first time and party. You’ll understand that when you’re 21 yourself. I do know this isn’t coming from a place of jealousy… but of concern. But reality is that she is an adult and will have to be responsible for making her own decisions. 21 is young to be having a baby, true… and it may be difficult for her.

Understand that she may not make all the same decisions you do… but if the baby, when it arrives, is happy, healthy and well cared for and she is stepping up to the plate and not taking advantage of you or your mom then she is doing her job – even if she does go out to get drunk once in awhile. People do not stop having their own needs simply because they become a parent, even if they do set them aside more often in favour of the needs of their children.

As to predicting your sister’s future parenting skills… I had my first child as a single parent at 22. At the time, I had never stayed at one job more than 5 months, had no education past grade 12, had never lived in one apartment more than 3 months. I had no job… had left mine about two months before I found out I was pregnant… and I even had a friend tell me she didn’t think I’d make a good parent… I was too footloose and irresponsible. Reality is that I was young… and didn’t have to be any more responsible than I was at the time.

I now, still single, have two teenage boys… a mortgage, horses, a career, two cars and all the trappings, bills, and extras that any other household has. My friend has had to eat her words… and has admitted that she was wrong.

I went out to the bar ten days after my first was born too. It didn’t hurt him or me… and did not set a trend for a lifetime of irresponsible parenting and partying.

Stop borrowing trouble… wait for it to arrive first. Enjoy anticipating being an aunt and enjoy your niece or nephew when he or she is born. Worry about your sister’s parenting when and if she actually proves herself irresponsible.

Sounds to me like your mom did a pretty good job with you. I see no reason to suspect she did less well with your sister.

Training for fitness qualification test?!?
I’m applying for a youth police academy course, which will start in early June. I’m not really out of shape, but running has never been my forte. I would really like to attend, but you have to be able to run 2.4K or 1.5M in under twelve minutes before they even consider you. What would be the best way to train for this? How many times a week would I have to run? For how long/far? I have 6 months! thanks for your help!

(PS. I’m 16 years old, and I’m a girl. don’t know if that matters!)

First of all, I commend you for your interest in the police academy. Not too many young people consider the police force as a viable career option.

As far as running goes, your starting point is entirely dependent on your current fitness level. If you aren’t training at all, then even running a mile will be quite a chore for you. What you could do is just go for a jog and bring a watch with you. See how long you can run for (don’t worry about distance just yet). Take a day off, then run again and try to go for a minute longer. Wait a day, then do the same thing, and lather, rinse, repeat. You’d be surprised how far you can actually run when you practice it. When you feel like you’re finally in pretty good shape, then you should start speeding up your pace and trying to hit 1.5 miles in under 12 minutes. Most trained runners can get there with no problems whatsoever, so I’m confident that you can reach that goal in 6 months.

Good luck!

Do you keep coffee beans in the frig? Don't the oils go rancid if you don't?
I have heard 2 different thoughts about this. Please clear this up for me. Thanks alot!

Coffee beans are best stored in a dry, airtight, light-proof container in your cupboard. Think of them as if they were a spice. High-moisture environments like your fridge or freezer can actually hurt the quality of your beans. As long as they are kept airtight and away from light, heat, and moisture, they won’t go rancid.

Even then, coffee beans, once opened, are only truly fresh for a week or so.

blix797 | Nov 16, 2009

I always keep my coffee beans in the fridge because it keeps them fresher. I’ve always understood that keeping them refrigerated keeps the oil from drying up too fast and keeps them tasting better longer.
Melissa | Nov 16, 2009

yes
sham_disneyworld | Nov 16, 2009

Coffee beans contain oil, it’s part of the ‘flavor’ produced by the roasting process. Once beans have been roasted they are considered fresh for about 21 days when stored in an air tight moisture proof container in a cool dark space. When ‘stored’ in an open air clear glass enclosure as many ‘coffee shops’ do to draw the customers attention, they degrade in less than a week. (wally-world does the same with their ‘fresh beans’)
Putting beans in a refrigerator or the freezer presents it’s own problems, freezing/thawing, collecting condensation inside the containers, absorbing ‘odors from other foods, being dried out by ‘frost free’ features in the refrigerator/freezer. For my money I would just as soon see coffee beans scattered on the counter as put in refrigeration. (and I work in the refrigeration industry)…
part of what the barrister said is true, part not…But most of them are trained as retailers first, coffee knowledge second…That’s just the way business is…The business world has determined that a year past the roast date isn’t a problem….EVEN AFTER IT IS GROUND…And Yes, coffee oils do go rancid, just like any other natural oil. Opening cans of outdated coffee (WAY past their REAL expiration of 3 weeks) can give you the ‘aroma’ for those rancid oils…"There’re the Richest Kind" comes to mind…
What I have learned is from roasting and getting information from the coffee growers and others in the coffee industry….
My methods are for the best tasting coffee, freshest tasting coffee and how to get the most from my beans….

Great, what can I do? (Salt)?
I looked out the window this morning to some freshly fallen snow. Fantastic, I was eager to get out and romp around with my dogs. I live in an apartment, and the maintenance men had already shoveled the paths. The place where I take them to relieve themselves is on the other side of the parking lot. I’ve been walking one dog at a time to lessen the chance of me falling on the ice with two large dogs…
So I head out with Bella down the path, I noticed that they had also salted with a green colored salt. No sooner had I realized this, I turn around and my Dane has about buckled to her knees trying to lift each of her paws. She was limping but it’s hard to limp if all 4 paws hurts… I rushed her back inside and wiped down her paws….

This is going to pose a problem I suspect. Where I’m from we rarely used salt, and I cant recollect a time where Ive walked a dog on salt and had this happen.

What exactly does salt do to my dogs paws?
How can I prevent it?
Should I let management know, since everyone else here has dogs and will soon be going through the same thing?

Thanks

Chemical De-Icer – not salt. You can let the management know that there are pet safe De-Icers.

However, if you’re going to be walking much you will find many neighbors and businesses use them as well. I found with my Service Dog it was much easier and safer for her to simply put booties on when we were out and about.

I made my own out of a fleece blanket remnant – used canvas where they used vinyl – http://domestikgoddess.com/sew-your-own- winter-dog-boots/

Animal Artwork & The Brat | Dec 10, 2009

Perhaps you might want to suggest that they use a coarse sand like we do.
Bobbie L | Dec 10, 2009

Whatever was used to melt the ice & snow, whether chemical or salt, has irritated & clearly caused pain for your dogs paws.

I suggest you inform the neighbors yourself to try & carry their dogs to the potty area if possible.
The only way to prevent this from bothering your dogs feet again, is to put doggy boots on him.
