Anyone know how to use Slope Intercept Form?
I am stuck on a math problem for school. I am supposed to use the Slope intercept formula. Here is what I know.
I know that the slope intercept formula is y=mx+b. And the equation I have to find is 2y+x=10. I have tried to figure out how to solve this but I am not sure how find x. I am thinking that 10 is b right? So is there an inverse operation I have to do to find x? Any sites or help you guys could give would be great thanks!

I Need a Family Law Lawyer In the Seattle Area?
Wow, ok, so my case is easy, but my finances are low. I need some one to ensure that all my court documents are correct, and I am not missing anything.

My Case: Well my child support is being modified by the state. I have 1 child that I am paying for, which is the child in question. My support is going up about 300 extra dollars a month, and I can’t afford that. I have 2 other children that I support, from my current marriage. My wife just got off bed rest, so I am the only one with the income. I seen a lawyer today, and she ran some numbers, and it looks like it would be about 240 a month. I can manage that. I just can’t afford her services, and there is so much paperwork, I don’t know what to do.

Is there anyone in my area that can help with paperwork. I can pay by the hour, but I can’t afford $5000 up front. I don’t need to be represented in court. I just want to make sure everything is filled out correctly, and nothing is left out. I don’t want my proposal to be thrown out because of one little mistake.

One more thing, I want to modify the custody. There is no paranting plan, and my son’s mother has custody. I am sure she will agree to split custody and we can work out a parating plan. So there will be not ugly battle in court. Again, I just need to ensure that all paperwork is included, and I need to be led in the right direction.

Any help is possible. I just can’t afford big up front cost, but I can pay, and work out a payment plan. I am sure this is easy work for somone who knows what they are doing.

call your local bar association and ask them for a list of lawyers in your area who do "pro bono" work…that means they will take your case for little or nothing.

Boy trouble?! What to do,how to act?
OK, here’s the lowdown:
i met this really sweet guy, we talked for like 3 hours in a bar, he asked for my number and naturally I gave him it.

So we went out on a date, went super well,,no awkward silences, we thought the same etc and had a great laugh. At the end he kissd me told me he had a great nite and would I see him again. I said yea.

Since then he has text/called etc. one day he said to me though that he wasnt ready for anything serious. Which puzzled me?!

Ive totaly not came on too strong cos ive been busy with a new job, new appartment,so was dead chilld out. he has bn hurt in the past so i totally understand.
But now Im not sure whether he meant he doesnt like me, or he does and just genuinely wants to take it slow? My friends think the latter, as we have been out a good few times and he still calls/texts and is such a sweety.
Do i:
a) ask him how he feels and what he meant? and tell him i dnt jst want ANOTHER guy m8?
b) just keep my mouth shut and not c him?
thanks! for the guys…if you just wanted a girl as a mate, would you continue to call her and text her and ask to see her? would you call her like flirty wee names and put xs on your texts?! Or wud that mean you liked her as more?!

definatly A)
you won’t know till you ask.
If you just sit back and say nothing your just going to spiral deeper into thoughts on what could have happened if you took action and spoke up.
You don’t want him to be your ‘What if’ guy.

Is Feminism a Communist Ideology?
So women want equal pay to men, right?
Feminism 101, will teach people that the ever evil PAY GAP!!!, is one of the biggest parts of Patriarchy, and that women should earn the same wage as men, right?
Despite the fact that:

Men on average work 3 hours more than women, which accounts to about 70% of the gap right there.

Men tend to do more dangerous jobs than women, such as construction for example, which women are more than welcome to do, I spent a year at a construction college thinking I wanted to be a construction engineer, and the college was really trying to get women to enroll for years, had entire pamphlets about Women in the construction industry, trying to encourage them to become builders, yet 96% of the attendees were men, this fact also includes jobs like welding and metal work, asbestos removal, truck/taxi drivers, fishing or logging, and many more that I can’t be bothered to list right now, but if a feminist starts saying "Yeah because there aren’t any others", I suppose I will list.
But all I know is that 93% of all on the job fatalities are Men.

Men are usually called upon to travel more, say I did become an engineer, and my firm got a call from Vietnam, saying they need a guy to go over and help build a bridge for example, there is a bigger chance that I will be the one to go, but speaking of Women in high end, technical jobs, ya know, computer science, engineering and all that stuff, its actually proven that women actually make more than men whilst working in those fields on average!

Men also take on lonelier jobs, 100% of tower crane drivers in the UK are men, and that is a well paid job, but its a damn depressingly lonely job, same with truck driers, I forget the percentage, but I know it was above 85% of truck drivers are male, spending days driving all alone, but they get a good wage for it, this may also explain why men are three time more likely to commit suicide.

Small business owned by women GENERALLY!, please keep in mind that this doesn’t apply to all women, I know how people who have blinded them selves by drilling a cause into their brains, can miss words out that are important, but pass them off as unimportant, and straw man the opposing side, I should know, I used to be the same with animal rights, but generally, women who own small businesses, do so to have more freedom to relax and earn her own income, whereas Men who own their own businesses, GENERALLY! (remember?), do so to earn money to support families, and because of this men tend to be more competitive, I don’t think that this has anything to do with effort, which I think may be a counter argument to this, but I this book by Warren Farrel, he makes a good point of about how Men and Women view freedom differently.

These are all facts that have been proven by Dr. Warren Farrel, who has written numerous books on the subject, and for years considered himself to be a hardcore Feminist, and if you read his books, which I suggest you do, especially if you are a Feminist, you will see that his work is unbiased, and he provides you with much more specific information, to why men earn more.

BUT!, you may ask, what does this have to do with Communism?
If you can’t figure it out, just don’t answer…..

There are many Feminists that come straight out and say they are Marxists, so there isn’t much of a stretch there, while others tend to be more like Nazis in their tactics and are best described as female supremacists.
Professor Milktoast | Feb 04, 2010

Feminism has many ideologies…Dworkin was Marxist…Hillary Clinton isn’t…Communism has to do with the relations of production in an economy…Feminism is just women wanting to have the same rights as men. Apples and Oranges.

No, it is not.
Discipula de Devendra Banhart | Feb 04, 2010

No.

Feminists want women to be paid the same as men who are doing the exact same job, not the same as men who are working harder, longer hours, or at more lucrative jobs.
Wild Sage | Feb 04, 2010

I would like to point out that women make significantly less money than men (something around 70-75%) and all of these things women "won’t do" is because of the sexism in the system. They think "Oh, she’s a poor, little girl and she can’t travel" or "Silly women don’t know how to run cranes."

It, also, has nothing to do with Communism. Communism is about the equal distribution of all wealth to the people. Feminism is equality for women in the sense that they get the same opportunities as men. However, several feminists would consider themselves Socialist, etc. I’m a Socialistic Feminist (as feminist as a man can be).
Carl | Feb 04, 2010

Other than several similarities that can be drawn by studying both these isms closely, I wouldn’t just write Feminism off as a clone of Communism (which would annul the existence one or the other ism).

Several Feminist HAVE confessed that they are also communists (A. Dworkin is Marxist, I’ve read). But MOST Feminists in the west (US/UK/Canada and also Europe) wouldn’t want to admit that they’re communists while also enjoying a cushy office job which they get via AA, while living in a capitalist country, which is understandable.

As for your references to the wage-gap — Wage-gap DOES exist, and it is true. What’s untrue is the claim that the wage-gap is solely based on gender while obfuscating several other majorly important factors that play into this aggregate phenomena of wage-gap.

Stats and facts can be powerful weapons of argument, but unless the facts and stats are accurate, these weapons make for a pretty dirty war. Most people never stop to question whether the things said in the media (e.g. the gender wage gap) are true, and simply accept these things as the pronouncements of experts in the field. However it is dangerous to believe everything you hear without checking the facts for yourself, as the following examples show clearly.

(a) The gender wage gap is caused by sexism.

If you worked 35 hours per week as an administrative assistant, would you expect to get paid as much as the surgeon who works 60 hours per week? Most people would agree that the person who has more skills or works longer hours should have their training and labour rewarded. However when it comes to gender issues we tend to have a collective blind spot, and all too readily jump to the conclusion that women are being exploited. Thus when we hear that the average woman gets paid less than the average man, many people immediately presume this is caused by sexism. However, this is what the UK governmental department of statistics says:

"Women’s weekly earnings, including overtime, were lower than men’s. This was partly because they worked fewer paid hours per week. …Although median hourly pay provides a useful comparison between the earnings of men and women, it does not necessarily indicate differences in rates of pay for comparable jobs. Pay medians are affected by the different work patterns of men and women, such as the proportions in different occupations and their length of time in jobs" i.e. women get paid less on average because on average they work fewer hours or in less well-paid occupations.
Know It All | Feb 04, 2010

Yes, but there are also many Fascist element within feminism. It not only want equal outcome for women, it promotes female supremacy as well and there are already several feminist icons/leaders who promote genocide (of men) e.g. Marly Daly, Valerie Solanas SCUM Menifesto etc.. similar to Hitler. IMO, feminsim is a combination of Communism and Facism.
Gun Fanatic | Feb 04, 2010

In addition to Warren Farrel, Jack Kammer (Goodwill Toward Men), Cathy Young, Christina Hoff Sommers and Susan Faludi are good…these women are mature enough to think for themselves without blindly believing pop culture that says they are oppressed and are for men’s rights and admit misandry is prevalent.

Is that a star satellite or a planet in my sky??
I live in Delta BC which is not to far from Vancouver. Can someone please tell me what it is I see every clear night in the sky. It is very bright and does not move I always thought that satellites moved but my brother in law (not at all that bright) says that I am worng ( he always says I am wrong) when I say it is either a planet (venus) or a star (supernova) because satellites move they don’t stay there for us to marvel at. Please help me.

There are geostationary satellites, but they orbit (at the same rate that the Earth rotates, so not really stationary) at about 22,000 miles out and are not visible to the naked eye.

All satellites visible to the naked eye move across the sky, generally in minutes. These will be unmistakable.

What you are seeing is Venus. It is often as bright, but half the time visible early morning rather than evening.

You should watch the sky more often. Venus is a common sight. It is simply that this appararition has coincided with the northern hemisphere spring and people see it later in the evening than they would in winter.

It still amazes me that the brightest object in the sky suddenly captures people’s attention when it is a common sight. (It is also one of the most common objects reported as a UFO).

nick s | May 13, 2007

If it is about 40 degree up from where the sun ought to be after it sets, due west, then what you are looking at is Venus.
Supernova that are close enought to be visible with the naked eye are very rare.
Vincent G | May 13, 2007

it is most likely a planet. planets are very bright in the sky and do not move

Several web sites offer online full-texts of books that are out of copyright, e.g. www.gutenberg.org.
However, aside from the copyright owner, which is almost always the author or their publisher, ANYONE who posts, distributes, or transmits the text of these books online is violating both the U.S. and the International Copyright laws, infringing on Intellectual Property, and can be fined and jailed for it. (In general, anything first published within the last 52 years in the U.S. will still be in copyright. What do U think another illegal another life taken Millard County deputy shot, killed?
Police searching for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a Millard County sheriff’s deputy did not find the man in a Salt Lake City shed Tuesday morning and now have added a second person of interest in the case.

Deputy Josie Greathouse Fox was gunned down about 1 a.m. Tuesday during a traffic stop a mile east of Delta, and a statewide manhunt for the suspect had narrowed down to a few blocks of west Salt Lake City.

However, police used tear gas in a shed and travel trailer where Roberto Miramontes Roman was suspected to have been and found no one inside. Roman is described as a 37-year-old Latino, 5-foot-7, 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

The second person of interest is Ruben Chavez Reyes, a 36-year-old who may know or may have assisted Roman, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeff Nigbur.

Police found a gray 1995 Cadillac Deville connected to the men in Nephi and are headed there to process it for prints and other evidence.

Fox, a mother of two, had been with the Millard County Sheriff’s Department five years. Her body was found by a second deputy, who was responding to her request for backup.

Roman is possibly armed with an AK-47 assault rifle, and is considered dangerous. Anyone with information on Roman’s whereabouts is urged to immediately call 911.

"We have information that he’s not going to be taken alive," Nigbur said.

Roman has a significant criminal history, including drug offenses, and a court-ordered illegal immigration-related deportation.

Millard County officials said the suspect vehicle, an orange Corvette, had been stopped as part of an investigation into recent thefts. The suspect had sped away from the scene by the time the second deputy arrived.

The search the suspect quickly focused to Salt Lake City, where police found a vehicle — believed to be the Corvette — near 300 South and 1100 West.

By 7 a.m., SWAT officers were seen in the area of 300 South and 1100 West. Two local elementary schools — Guadalupe and Franklin — were closed and traffic through the area blocked while officers went door-to-door, searching for the suspect.

Nigbur said three SWAT teams were deployed in the area, focusing on "two or three" homes believed to be occupied by relatives of the suspect. No neighborhood evacuations were immediately ordered, however.

Roman has a criminal history beginning in 1992 with a misdemeanor drug distribution charge to which he pleaded guilty in Fillmore’s 4th District Court.

Then in 1996 and 1997, Roman was charged in Millard County with a handful of felonies in two different cases, including drug charges, receiving stolen property and a weapons count.

He resolved the cases by pleading guilty to one count of third-degree felony drug possession and one count of second-degree felony drug possession with intent to distribute.

Utah Board of Pardons and Parole spokesman Jim Hatch said Roman was sentenced to prison for up to 15 years in June 1997.

Roman was released into the custody of immigration authorities on Sept. 15, 1998, and deported.

Court records show that at the time the crimes were committed, Roman was a resident of Delta. All three cases were investigated by the Millard County Sheriff’s Office.

Meanwhile, in Millard County, law enforcement ordered closure of U.S. 50 in both directions just east of Delta as their investigation into the slaying got under way this morning. The road has since been reopened, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

Yes, it`s a shame and national disgrace that police/ICE and other governmental enforcement agencies start doing SOMETHING only after illegal criminals-who should not be in the country-take a citizens life.Lets hope that that ka-ka head degenerate, does not surrender, but gets blown away-when found by police-and at least saves taxpayers money for his trials, appeals, incarceration, and medical & other expenses.

Educating Rita

Educating Rita
Educating Rita (1983)

IMDB rating: 7.10

Plot: Rita crashes into Dr. Frank Bryant’s life wanting an education, although she has no idea what it is that she’s asking. Her brash sincerity earns the respect of the doctor who has previously resigned himself to a life of empty lectures and booze. Rita’s character is a breath of fresh air for Bryant and he begins to care about someone, or something for that matter, for the first time since his wife left him. As each begins to wake up to life in their own way, the story comes to a close as an inspiring tale of self discovery and of the power choice that comes through education.

Educating Rita.. what forms of humour are used?
Hey everyone:)
I’m in year 10 and i’m doing an essay on the serious points in educating rita…
but my teacher says i have to do a paragraph on how humour is used as well..
so do you know any quotes and why they’re funny? I ain’t gonna copy i just need some ideas :D
Thanks in advance xx

maybe when she is talking about the painting when she first meets the proffesor? or when he comes in drunk to the lecture. i dnt have the quotes tho sorry, i studied it two years ago so i don’t remember much

oh i just rememberd humour is also used in Frank’s sarcasm, its used when he’s talking to Rita and she doesn’t seem to get it so it shows the difference between Rita and Frank and the way they think?
hope that helped! gud luck! xx
