Can you be arrested for killing someone after you were already tried for murdering them?
Here’s the layout: Say you kidnap somebody, and then you’re tried for their murder because you make yourself an obvious suspect. But throughout the trial, for lack of evidence, you are proven not guilty. So after you dodge that bullet, can you go out in public and literally kill him and not be tried because of double jeopardy? I’d like to know the technicalities because it seems like it would work.
Suspending some reality, if they literally took me on murder even though know body was found, and I was declared not guilty, I’m wondering if I just finally took the guy and killed him could they try me again? Also I’m wondering do they actually use the dates as part of the crime? Like "you’re guilty of killing Tom Green on march 4th", I think that’s a little too specific cause what if, say, you killed him on march 3rd, then they’d have to make a whole new case, wouldn’t they? I think it’s the general murder.
I’m currently studying the judicial system in government class, so anybody with the knowledge, use terminology liberally, please. The answers have been good.
Without a body the charges of homicide are very rarely brought forward. But you could still be charged with kidnapping. Therefore if you were to go out and kill the person you kidnapped, the standard of double jeopardy would not be in place because you were not originally charged for that crime in the first place.

How could you be tried for murdering someone if that person is not dead?

It’s that you can’t be found guilty twice so the ‘not guilty’, then ‘guilty’ scenario doesn’t work

If you are tried for their MURDER and found not guilty how can you go out and kill that person again?

I don’t think double jeopardy would work.
You would be accused of a murder of a specific person on a specific time and day. That is the crime you are charged with. You are acquitted of that crime.
Now if you for real kill the person you were acquitted of killing then that is a whole entirely new crime.
