P.S. I Love You
|
IMDB rating: 6.90 Plot: Holly Kennedy (Hillary Swank) is beautiful, smart and married to the love of her life— a passionate, funny, and impetuous Irishman named Gerry (Gerard Butler). So when Gerry’s life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So it’s a good thing he planned ahead. Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief, but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly’s 30th birthday in the form of a cake, and to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to tell her to get out and “celebrate herself”. In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way; P.S. I Love You. Holly’s mother (Kathy Bates) and best friends (Gina Gershon) and Denise (Lisa Kudrow), begin to worry that Gerry’s letters are keeping Holly tied to the past, but in fact, each letter is pushing her further into a new future. With Gerry’s words as her guide, Holly embarks on a touching, exciting and often hilarious journey of rediscovery in a story about marriage, friendship and how a love so strong can turn the finality of death into a new beginning for life. |

How long after introducing rice cereal do you try veggies or fruits?
My daughter is 4 months old and she has been eating milupa rice cereal for 2 weeks now. She hasn’t had any problems with it at all ( no allergies or constipation ). I want to introduce oatmeal cereal soon, when is the right time? I also want to start veggies/fruits soon.. I heard your "supposed" to start veggies first from green to orange and then fruit.. is this true?
** P.s – I don’t want to hear comments about babies not needing solids until 6 months.. her doctor advised me to introduce cereal at 4 months and shes a big girl (over 16 pounds). Every baby is different, some can handle solids early and so far she loves it!
We started veggies about 2 weeks after the cereal. We were recommended to try veggies first as some children get hooked on the sweetness of fruit and then refuse the vegetables. We were also told to try the same veggie for 4 – 5 days in a row to be sure there is no reaction, we were also told to alternate orange and greens (otherwise you will be in for a surprise in the diaper). After we got through a few weeks of vegetables, we moved onto fruit (alternated with veggies and made sure to stay with one for a few days before moving onto another).
Best wishes!

I always waited a week before introducing a different food. That way if she is allergic it will be easy to tell what the culprit is. I have heasrd conflicting stories on starting with veggies vs. fruit. I started with veggies so he wouldn’t get a sweet tooth or be shocked by the different flavor. But was told after that, it didn’t really matter. I agree with you as far as it depends on the child (and parent’s wishes) on when to start solids.

Orange veggies usually come first before the green ones….but really there is no science to introducing foods. You can start with fruits or veggies, doesn’t matter. My son started fruit first. The suggestion to starting veggies first is b/c fruits are sweet and babies love sweet fruits which can turn them off from the bland/bitter taste of veggies because they acquire the taste for the fruits and then only want "sweet" things. The only true "rule" for introducing new foods is….Do not introduce more than one new food every 3-4 days. This is to ensure there is no allergy. For example….If you give bananas for the first time today, do not give anything else new until at least thursday. This way if she has an allergy to bananas you will know it. If you give new foods back to back and an allergy occurs, you won’t know which food caused it. My son has never had a problem with rice cereal, so I stuck with it, he’s 7 1/2 months and have been getting cereal since he was 2 months old. I started fruits at about 3 months and veggies around 4 months. Now at 7 1/2 months he’s eating fruit and cereal for breakfast and for dinner he gets a combination of meat and veggie and a lil fruit for dessert. If your dr advised solids, you can give whatever you would like! If you are going to start with veggies I suggest the orange ones because they are a lil sweeter of a veggie and will attract the baby a bit more than the green ones. Sweet potatoes/carrots/squash are my son’s favs. Best of luck!

Basically, as for types of cereal, as soon as you are sure there’s no allergy, try oatmeal, then barley.
Cereal is more of a "practice" food, and good for thickening up stage one foods. Fruits and veggies are fine as soon as your child can take from a spoon (and your doc says ok). Do one at a time to make sure there are no allergies, but there is no real order. I suggest starting with veggies just to give her a "taste" for them so she’ll be healthier later on but other than that, the order doesn’t matter.
Only thing is to make sure your child takes a bottle first to get all her nutrients. That way she doesn’t "fill up" on fruits/veggies first and then miss out on her nutrients from the bottle. I suggest a 6-8 oz bottle followed by fruit/veggie, and then maybe a couple more oz of formula after if she’s still hungry — more just to "wash it down".

they really dont want you to feed them anything but rice cereal until 6 months but anywhere after a week.just be sure do only one fruit of veg for a whole week.
