Should I cut off the stems and leaves of my already sprouted potato plants?
My potato plants have sprouted stems and leaves about 9 inches long. Should I cut them off before planting? If not, how deep should I plant them…bury them up to where?
make a mound and plant the seedlings in well composted soil, mulch well, and water.

You should leave about two sprouts on each potato if you leave too many they won’t grow as well
You should bury the whole potato about in about two inches of soil.

plant leftover sprouted potatoes in a 4 inch deep trench with the sprouts laying horizontally along the row..

You don’t say whether it’s sweet or irish potatoes. Sweet potatoes are planted about four inches deep and watered right after. They will root up in a few days. Irish potatoes that are already 6 to 8 inches long will be a challenge. I would cut a chunk off the mother potatoe and also plant them about four inches deep. Don’t cut the stem.
