So my new cat got outside and jumped the fence! What should i do?
hey, my uncles cat which is a norwegian forest cat was living with us for a few days, she settled in nicely with our other cats and seemed fine. For the first few days she didn’t seem interested about going outside but today she was meowing to go out so we tied some string to her collar and took her out but the string broke and she jumped the fence into out next door neighbors house.
They have a dog but it didnt bark at first but i ran around to get in there and then the dog started barking and the cat was gone.
The people behind us have no pets and are fairly quiet, and the ones diagonal have no pets either.
The cat is about 3 years old, had been living with my friend its whole life and has been with us for about a week. what should i do?
ok well if your cat settled in nicely than it probs knows where it lives, if you already fed it there it will know that it will have to go back there for more food. but that is why it is crucial that once yo get it home and it finally starts relaxing completely (like two days) then you slowly start letting you go outside by it’s self and continue feeding it and such. it will be back, no worries. twothree days TOPS.

Tell you’re neighbours to keep an eye out and call you if they see it. Maybe shake its food? It should come back soon when it gets hungry.

First make sure that you town or city isn’t on a rabis wanring because he or she will be out down immediatly. second make sure that you call the local shelter and check your friends house. Cat if in the same city can find thier way back home because it is where they may be most comfortable(not like a cage in the vets office isn’t comfortabel) But also make sure that you don’t live near cyotes. Becuase he also may have gotten stick. So make it a neighbour hood effort tohave themm look every inch of thier yards. Otherwise your kitty may be stuck forever. Ir you live in the sub berbs or what ever they’re calles get like the next two blocks on both sides of you to check every square inch. At night go and do a group sherch with you and some nieghbours and friends. Bring flash lights and do a good look through trash can and anything else that kitty could go in. Post fliers and mabey tru and see if you could out them in some of your neighbours and people you dont know mail boxers. Ask alot of questions and work with your local shelter. If you shack a bag of treats kitty like you maky hear a faint or lound meow from him or you have to listen very carefully if he is stuck

I would definitely post fliers! Of course, you should call the animal shelters and give them a flier and contact information, and make sure you talk to all of your neighbors and give them your phone number too. But fliers can be very effective! Several years ago one of our indoor/outdoor cats disappeared. After a few days we grew to be very concerned and made some posters. He had been missing for about 4 or 5 days before we put up the fliers – we made sure to put them on the telephone poles and at the gas station down the street since a lot of people walk in and out of there. Within the next day or so he appeared back at our door.
