I still can't name my characters. Help?
So I still can’t name my characters, no matter how much I rattle around in my brain( hee hee. Isn’t that a funny looking image? Someone walking around in their own brain with a map?)
So here’s what I have so far…
Anastasia ‘Stacy’ Lane: I can’t find a good name for her. She’s very sarcastic and feisty, and her impulsiveness gets the best of her sometimes. I can’t name her Alexis or Isabelle, since those are my sisters names( and I feel very awkward typing their names). Can you give me a list of uncommon, probably old, names you like?
Also, can you include a list of boys and girls names( first, middle, and last if yhu can)
I know I sound a little needy, but I want to finish this story before June.
Thanks in advance
Sorry! What I mean, is that Stacy Lane is her current name, but I am not very happy with it, and I want to change it :) . Sorry for the confusion

I’m confused, isn’t Anastasia/Stacy Lane her name? So why would you still need to name her? Hmm… I’m very confused here.

Here’s a list of names I have used so far in my story. Maybe you can get some ideas.
Grace
James
Thomas
Penelope
Arnold
Clara
Amy
Chris
Holly
Maria

You can use any of those if you like them.
Tori ? | Feb 01, 2010

My first suggestion is go to the baby names section of Y!A and look around. But realize that most of the people on there are expectant mothers and the names that they choose will not be right for the era your character is born unless shes relatively young. It might spark some ideas for you though.

Here are my ideas of "sarcastic feisty" girl names:

Dianne
Monica
Erika
Veronica
Audrey
Casey
April
Verona
Hailey
Jade
Roxy
Alison
Raven
Kiara
Joanna
Zoe
Denise
Amber
Charlotte
Theodora
Niki

The most important thing is that you like the name. You’re the one who has to type the name over and over again, and you’re the one who knows the character best. Trust your gut instincts :) good luck.

I'm looking for an old Disney(?) movie?
I go through these phases every two years or so where I want to go back and watch the old Disney movies I adored when I was a kid. However, there’s one that eludes me every year because I saw it so long ago that I can’t remember the title, nor can I be sure if it was really Disney. One note: don’t read the first few lines of my synopsis and conclude it’s the Pagemaster, I know that one.

Here’s what I remember: It starts in real life, then goes to animation. There was a kid who lived on a farm or something like that, and for some reason he is sucked into an animated world where a rooster is some central character/hero. There are songs and everything, and it climaxes with this kid returning to real life and seeing the rooster nearly dead (but still animated), I can’t remember the end.

If you know, please answer. I can’t find it on any list, it’s driving me nuts!

LOL! I remember… its ROCK- A-DOODLE! Its not disney though. … but it has the coolest Elvis rooster ever! LOL

Am I Truly sad or just selfish?
I have constantlyly been depressed for about 2 years now….im just always so sad. I miss evrything that my life used to be, i hate how everything in my life has changed. everything in my life was more or less grate until i entered secondry school…i was looking forward to it so much and sure it is good in some ways but my life has gone more or less down hill sense then. Everything has changed, my friend, like im still friends with them but they have just changed too much, there is so much pressure to kiss guys and sexual stuff and they are all doin all that and we are all only 14(well im almost 14, in less han a month) i miss bein a kid so much i was so happy and i didnt worry so much. Then the start of 2009 was ok until Mchael Jackson died…i wasnt really a fan before he died,(like i liked his music but i didnt no much about him) and i used to sorta believe all that child molesting thing, like i wasnt sure…but when he died and the TV had all these programs i realised what a loving, kind, talented man he was….it hurt me so much, i feel so awful for nit realising how amazing he was while he was alive. Like I love animals, nature and i wana make a difference in this world, i wana help thoses in need, he was all of that…if i had known while he was alive i would have done everything i could to have met him. He is my hero my idol, words cant explain how much i love him and how sorry I am about believen the press….he has inspired me so much changed my life and made me see life differently. Nobody can really understand how i feel though…only me and mabe God. I feel like my life is a waste…the only achievements i have made was when i was younger like winning cross country, drama, art and sports compitions…i dont feel they are much though….i just feel like God is against me…i kept tellin myself…dont worry it will get better, but it hasnt nothing has gotten better, i have so many worries i am constantly under presssure…i hate the way my life has turned out so far. I could tell about 50 other things but i dont have the space…i just cant explain how i feel im always sad…
Am i really depressed? Am i loney,I have plently of friend but i can never talk to anyone about how i feel. Everyone thinks i am this happy trouble free girl but i wish they could know how i truly feel inside. When my mum gets mad and says oh you have such a perfect life, i just wish she could know the pain i go through each day and night.
AM i just being sorry for myself? is that Y God isnt helping me? I know there are people who have life 1000 times worse than me but i just want to be happy again…Im just afraid i am not truely sad, mabe im just selfish???
please Tell me??

You’re just lost in time, stuck in memory lane.

Don’t compare your current situation to your past situation – that’s what makes you sad. Your life now is fine, it’s just when you compare it to previous years and what you think of as ‘better’ times that you get sad. It’s when you let your thoughts get in the way that things seem to go ’sour’. You think about people pressuring you to do things, and life seems bad. But it’s not so bad – just you in your house, that’s all. Everything is fine. Just your thoughts and memories that get in the way.

Be Here, Now! ^_^

Life is changing all the time, and now you changed from young girl to a young lady, nothing will be the same, your friends change too, try to accept anything that come by such as Michel died, so what! every body die, try to think like a grown up, make new friends, do not spend time alone and just day dream, go out or do something, do not think of boys too much, those kissing and doing that your friends said might not be true, they might make it up just to show that they are popular, study hard and try your best to get to higher study, if you make people around you happy you will feel happy too. Good luck

Do U Know Of These Comic Book Heroines & Amazons?
Hello Folks:

I am an avid book reader. My favorite genres of comics, manga and novels are science fiction (especially stuff dealing with robots and aliens), fantasy and horror. Secondarily, I like superhero action, historical (Yes, there are some comics that deal with history.), Westerns and even romance. Lately, I have been getting into comic issues that feature strong warrior women fighting aliens, monsters and animals.

To start off, I have seen plenty of stuff featuring She-Hulk, Supergirl and Wonder Woman fighting all types of non-Human creatures. Is there anything featuring the SHE-THING (the Thing’s counterpart) fighting off any creatures, too? Also, I have seen some stuff featuring Cavewoman (from http://www.basementcomics.com ), Kageena (She’s an old school jungle queen. Does anyone have any stuff featuring her?), Tarzana (I’m looking for stuff about her as well.), Lorna the Jungle Queen, Jungle Girl (from http://aroscoe.net/rpn/?p=1132 or http://www.dynamiteentertainment.com ) and Jana of the Jungle (She was an animated jungle warriorette from the 1980s, created from then Hanna-Barbera. Does anyone know if she ever fought any animals in any way?) I also like medieval female warriors such as Sojourn (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sojourn ), Queen/Red Sonja (from http://www.dynamiteentertainment.com ) and Avengelyne (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avengelyne ).

Also, just recently, I just bought a giant-size comic issue of GRIMM FAIRY TALES (from http://www.zenescope.com ) which feautured a red-haired chick with a sword (not Red Sonja or that other lady on the HEAVENLY SWORD video game) fighting a dragon as well as an assortment of two-legged monsters. She was going at them harder and faster than the men around her were, too (no pun intended). I never thought that the people behind these fairy tales would also put out something featuring an amazon warriorette fighting some monsters. Sometimes you can never be too sure of things, can you?

If anyone has any more stuff dealing with matches between these or other heroines/amazons and non-Human creatures such as aliens, monsters and/or animals, then please feel free to drop me a line. Thank you very much for your help.

Web_Jock

You basically named everything I know. You could check out Lara Croft’s comic series. Admittedly, I haven’t read it.

How about Atalanta, a heroine from Greek myth. There is a book on Amazon featuring four stories, two of Hercules and two featuring Atalanta, with a short Atalanta comic in the middle of the book. The title is "Heroes of Ancient Greece", and is by three authors, and an artist. The stories feature robots, monsters, and aliens, with lots of action. And a nice cover.

Based on the true story of one of the greatest moments in sports history, the tale captures a time and place where differences could be settled by games and a cold war could be put on ice. In 1980, the United States Ice Hockey team’s coach, Herb Brooks, took a ragtag squad of college kids up against the legendary juggernaut from the Soviet Union at the Olympic Games. Despite the long odds, Team USA carried the pride of a nation yearning from a distraction from world events. atheists why don't you believe in a god, and religious people why do you belive in God?
im am currently questioning my faith in god (I am 14) and primarily because i read the book "Night" by Eli Wiesel (spelling?) its a book about eli’s experience in the concentration camps.

-Religious people why do you like your god would let that happen 9 million people died!

my friends are all religious and they tell me of miracles made by god , i really need proof my friends call this a sin to not trust in god. I just need proof, But i can’t be live a virgin had a child, or that Moses parted the red sea. I feel terrible writing this but, this is just my belief im not a atheist yet i still have some faith.

But i just have that bit of faith because whenever i am doing something bad and noone is around to see what i’m doing someone comes home and i have just enough time to hide what i am doing and never do it again i.e i wanted to try some booze so i opened a bottle of some kind and poured it into a glass my father came home and i just had time to close the bottle and pour out the stuff coincidence or was god trying to say/do something? (up to this point i have never consumed alcohol i haven’t yet either

NOW! atheists can you tell me why you don’t be live in a god?
And religious people can you tell me why you do?

Please tell me your opinion on the holacost and my personal experience with the booze

Religion is superstition.

You can trace most of the Bible stories back to earlier myths. The flood story, for example, is from an old Babylonian myth.

BTW, faith is over-rated. Really what you should strive for is knowledge. Faith is belief without knowledge. It is belief in something because you want to believe.

The Holocaust was a terrible event in human history. I’m against any kind of ethnic cleansing. Of course, God, according to the Bible, did some ethnic cleansing himself, like Hitler did. Though, God was supposedly killing other civilizations to make way for the Jews. Either way, it is bad.

Total lack of any evidence of god(s).
Colette Pioline ART | Feb 06, 2010

What takes God from imaginary to believable? Blind faith, which is just wishful thinking.
Faith can move mountains, right? Wrong. People move mountains if the human (Earth-based) will is there.
The real question around faith is: What takes God from imaginary to a effective phyical force? Nothing.
Does God exist? Consider this… Without the faith of believers, God evaporates.
Skookum | Feb 06, 2010

I will ask Christians one question:

Why do you believe in God but not Santa?

There is a lack of evidence for both of them. And, like any other sane logical person, I do not believe in things that are most likely false.
